Nicoletta Tomas's painting is similar to entering a fairytale. Unravels a wonderful world, which takes us to a warm and comforting place of our childhood.

She frequently reveals situations with great demonstration of affection, not only amongst people, but also animals. She uses a rather characteristic tenderness with a great sentimental component. Tomas paints with sweetness and creates a mystical atmosphere. Her firmament, full of stars, is an invitation to dream and to enter a different universe.

Her colours and textures help to emphasise this sort of magic, conceiving an environment that accentuates the diffuse atmosphere, typical of her mystical surroundings.

Featuring a distinctly Naïf style, the figures she creates seem to have their source in a fabulous animation. They have a delicate anatomy, something that portrays an enormous innocence and underlines a panoply of pure feelings.

Her characters are essentially girls with big eyes and a contemplative glance which are portrayed affectionately. We can find a certain peace within them, which adds an extra dimension, usually not a trait of a child, placing them in a meditative almost transcendental state.

One of the artists favourite approaches relies on strong ties and relationships between people and animals. Tomas does it in a sensitive and poetic manner, which raises intense scenes capable of capturing our senses. In the end, we all have a hidden admiration for strong relationships and emotions, but do not always have the ability or courage to demonstrate our feelings. Her work reflects purity and is capable of embellishing and enamouring the viewer, causing him to surrender to the scene and thus express his feelings.

Nicoletta Tomas Caravia was born in Madrid, Spain in 1963.

She is a selftaught artist who states that painting has grown inside of her and her in it. They go hand in hand as it is an intimate language between her soul and herself. She learns with it, inhabiting the realm of form to let deep feelings speak. Mirrors from her world to the world, from the inside to the outside and from the outside to the inside. The battlefield always within her and the imagination as a companion. Her pictorial motifs, the light of the human being, its fragility and its greatness.

She is not so interested in an artwork for how it is executed, but for its ability to speak directly to our hearts.
