Jan Min - Video

Jan Min gives us a unique mystique, a scene that is revealed essentialy by its own atmosphere. He delights us with a distinct elegance, emphasised by the reflexes that transform a painting into a mirror and give it a delicate, brilliant and surreal balance. His city scenes have an enchanting sort of magic, in every moment and in every season they emanate a fascinating attraction, a poem filled with transcendental contours; even on a grey or somber day, at peak time or in the middle of chaos, they portray serenity and simple delicacy. Jan Min has the ability to show us that beauty is not present in things, nor in our eyes, but within us. His perspective makes us calmly stroll across the canvas, everything is contagious giving us the peacefulness that water brings, the implicit calmness of a rainy afternoon. The dark skies burst out and soak the paper with grey water.

Water flows freely all over catching the characters, emphasising the elegance of their figures and silhouettes. The light covers the entire canvas, from the last plane (the most enlightened one), blinkingly projecting itself on the floor here and there, reaching our eyes, in a diffused and refracted form while sharp contrasts enhance the brightness. The bright reds and yellows attain a surprising vividness, in contrast with a folded background made of neutral and grey colours. The colours are cautiously used as musical keys, which emphasise the background music and, in a fabulous way, they channel the attention throughout the composition.
