Salanié Jean-Marie lives and works in Saubion, in the Landes. He has been painting since 1988. A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Decoratifs de Paris. Attracted by anatomy and the human body, he aspires in his work as a painter and draftsman to apprehend the transformations of the body from birth to death: the cycle of life. His work is a plunge into the flesh. Flesh of man and his bruised earth.
"Drawing is an art in itself and without it painting can not take its real dimension. My drawings always start with a whirl of abstract lines, volutes that let me guess then more complex forms, to arrive at a representation not agreed At first. A sort of automatic writing, of exquisite cadavers. For my painting, the process of creation is substantially the same. From brush strokes randomly released on the canvas, colors and movements naturally invite me to define and organize space. Thus the anatomical structures of my paintings take shape, which I also recreate by drawing in pastels".
