Mark was born (1952) and raised in Northern California, and attended University there, receiving a degree in studio art in 1973. He has been a professional artist ever since, working with paint, metal, wood and computers. He has co-founded several gallery ventures, traveled extensively in Asia and elsewhere, and now operates Sacred Light Studio from his home out in the country north of San Francisco, and maintains a small artist's retreat in Costa Rica.

Exploring an original form of Visionary art for over 40 years, Mark was inspired by his time spent experiencing the spiritual art of asia on visits to Nepal and India to study Thangka painting and Vedic art in the mid '70's. These explorations generated a long career of art-making, evolving from posters and album covers to cultural icons. Known for its strong imagery, Mark's work is often a fusion of the spiritual, the romantic and the political.

My sincere desire is to tap into the divine source of Being, Consciousness spirit, or whatever you may call it… that place where existence comes from, and to bring into physical reality visual images manifesting the knowledge revealed while in the presence. Strangely enough, I have discovered that the more intensely personal my vision is, the more universal its message when presented to the world.
