Petraq Pecani’s colours are deeply peculiar and they emanate a strong attraction, there’s this rather diverse pallete based on properly studied colour schemes. The warm tones have an outstanding brightness and energy, the blue shades extend themselves through a wide amplitude and they exhibit a unique depth. Pecani often uses greys, half tones and neutral colours, which on the one hand, work as a way to highlight and intensify the colour’s intensity and, on the other, inject a subtle and pastel atmosphere, so typical in his paintings. That whole ambience finds a deep contrast in its powerful impastos filled with life and expressiveness.

His quick brushstrokes are loaded with energy and incite a relevant motion. By looking at them more attentively, it’s obvious that the scenes are suggested through an overlap of shades and lines fostered by multiple brushstrokes. They are juxtaposed, overlapped, and they can also be more opaque or transparent, whilst holding more or fewer impastos. His consecutive brushstrokes work as is they were a set of optical effects, in which the images are solely recreated in the viewer’s retina. His landscapes, abiding by an impressionist trait, only gives us a distant vision, akin to a suggestion found between the fog, an incomplete memory which we’ll reconstruct using our imagination.

Pecani paints a wide number of rural scenes, between mountains, groves, trails and houses. One can feel the passing of the seasons, as if we were watching his daily life throughout the year. The artist conveys deep genuine feelings with his painting and we tend to calmly and quietly be fond of the beauty of his brushstrokes. His impastos are captivating, they awaken our touch, they incite a tempting desire to touch them.
