Agnes Indre

Lithuania

Agnes Indre was born in 1963, in Vilnius, Lithuania. Both of her parents are artists. She studied wall painting, jazz guitar, but got most of her artistic education at home and much later - by studying the work of other illustrators.

Although she has studied art professionally, her career started relatively late as she didn't see the point of abstract art and realism, it just lacked that "something" but found that illustrating was an exciting discovery. She loves to add real features to characters, choosing the scenery, and all in all being a part of an adventure. Among many books that she had the pleasure to illustrate are: William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde and Goethe.

For many years she has cooperated with publishing houses in her home country Lithuania, and abroad: Germany ("J.F. Schreiber Verlag") and Taiwan ("Grimm Press"), amongst others. She has also participated in Bologna Children's Book Fair Illustrator's Exhibition, the Biennal of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) and Premi Internacional Catalonia D'illustracio.

Her favorite technique is watercolor, and tablet for the finishing touches, but sometimes she switches to acrylics or pastel.
