Tomasz Alen Kopera is a Polish artist. Recognized as a budding talent from a very young age, he spent his adolescence discovering the breadth of his abilities. Since earning his degree in Construction Engineering at the University of Technology in Wroclaw, he has gone on to earn a reputation as a painter.
Working with oil paints, he is clearly in close touch with his emotions, paying attention to the details of his work in order to express himself clearly and form a connection with his audience. He relocated in 2005 to Northern Ireland, and he continues to live and work there today. In 2012, he joined the Libellule Group, which was founded by Lukas Kandl.
There is in Tomasz’s work an innate sense of the subconscious. He tries to redirect eyes away from the most obvious details if his work and toward the subtleties. It is his goal to elicit self-reflection and even epiphanies through his work. Fire, a recurring theme, could be seen as magnifying this concept, because fire is something that purifies whatever it touches, transforming it into its most basic components.
Tomasz is an artist whose work is never simple and yet never inaccessible either. He is saying something, of course, and if it is not immediately clear what that thing is, then perhaps his distraction is working and your attention ought to shift somewhere else in the piece.
