Andrés Rueda - Video

André’s art is like plunging oneself into the palette, a deep dive into the paint. In his impressionist style, that impression starts with each splash, with each tidbit of paint and with each detail, every element congregates to give us a landscape filled with energy. His brushstrokes seem rushed, but a more attentive look can perceive that they are meticulously calculated, only conveying the quintessential and reflecting the purity and “simplicity” of nature, in a unique and contagious atmosphere.

André, through the paint’s plasticity, reveal us landscapes filled with colour and emotion. The elusive contours make the painting’s main structure shift between the figurative and the abstract colour patterns. This combination made of layers, impastos and pigments, concatenated under an “instantaneous brushstroke”, is able to capture a moment that has external and internal traits. His paint seems to be as alive as nature itself, thus extending his presence and movement to the point where it goes beyond the painting’s boundaries and drips into impastos that have the everlasting energy of springtime.

Even though the paint is part of the chemistry realm, his mixture is more optical than technical, there’s something electric in his colours and nature; both erupt with saturations and extreme contrasts which pierce our mind through our eyes, while developing themselves among chemical reactions, perceptions, impressions and feelings.

André, despite so much colour, saturation and contrast, is able to reproduce a harmony that reflects a natural dance. The reaction begins in André’s head, and after transferring itself to his palette and canvas, it ends up activating a reaction in our brains.

By Pedro Boaventura • Excerpt from Masters of Painting - Volume 1

Andrés Rueda was born in Piedrahita (Ávila) in 1956. While living in Catalonia, he studied in the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Sabadell (Barcelona). He later perfected his technique and craftsmanship in various ateliers of prestigious master painters until, with the knowledge and experience he obtained, he decided to follow his own path and discovered his enduring passion for landscape painting.

Andrés Rueda has now fully matured as a painter and has established his personal criteria. As his very personal aesthetic he has chosen a style of painting that, although fully contemporary, is also an echo of tendencies that triumphed in past centuries: Pre- Rafaelism, Symbolism, Impressionism and Neo- Impressionism.

This close relationship and dialogue that he maintains with his best friend, the landscape, must both surprise and be admired. When viewing this deep and mutual understanding, it becomes obvious that

landscapes have offered to him their most intimate secrets, confessing their deepest nuances and hitherto unrecognized perceptions. They have opened limitless new perspectives and horizons to him where commercial repetitions and dangerous affectations have no place.
