Sergey Tyukanov has the glance of a lynx and an outstanding skill to capture the tiniest of details. A succession of data and loose parts that suggest only clues deciphered only after it is conjugated in the mind of the viewer.

Tyukanov’s compositions are ambiguous images which do not point out to a place, but rather a condition of existence. They establish the bridge between the sensory and spiritual realms. In a satirical and moralizing overtone, the outer landscape creates parallels with regions found deep in one’s being.

He draws a depiction of heaven, earth and darkness and simultaneously a caricature of society. Here is a reproduction of worldly pleasures and a reflection of the struggle for survival. Briefly put, an intimate portrait, which is a complex operation because, after all, it is hard to look inside, and even harder is seeing what no one wants; like their biggest faults, the filthiest of sins, the biggest contradictions, the lies, and misfortunes. There is always the danger of getting stuck in our own traps, of falling into our own tricks, or worse, fighting a battle with our own demons.

Common themes are commemoration and banquets of never-ending meals, in which food is overstated and acquires crucial importance in the process of constant nourishment, and in a metaphor for excessive gluttony and lust.

Also in “Battle of Money," there is a passage of lost humanity, where headless people, are ruled by a sick obsession, commanded by a rampant lust for money. In the absence of other goals, without principles or ethics, where avarice and greed replenish the greatest of hatreds, a breeding ground for all kinds of battles and wars.

Tyukanov projects the reflection of society within the individual; indeed, vast crowds are not more than a simple group of beings, that even against our will, we are more alike than we are different.

Each person has his or her own idea of the world. Picture is the window to the world of the artist, who has an opportunity to create things that are impossible in the real world. My world is the world of the metamorphosis and paradox, which are reality for me, and this reality I materialize in my works.  I like to be surprised and astonished, I like to surprise and astonish myself. Creativity should inspire and arouse creativeness. I invite you to travel in the world of my fantasies.
