Born in 1976, Kerry Dunn began drawing at the early age of five when sitting on his fathers' lap he watched his Dad doodle a sketch. The hook was set and drawing became Mr. Dunn's greatest interest as he was encouraged by classmates, teachers and parents alike throughout his school years. A healthy sense of competition on Mr. Dunn's part also helped advance his skill in drawing at an early age. Mr. Dunn graduated in 1999 from Ringling School of Art and Design with a major in illustration. It was during his years at Ringling that he discovered his preference for oil painting and his inclination towards portraits as he was always drawing his friends in his sketchbook.

After graduation Mr. Dunn realized that what he really needed at that point was a mentor who could teach him the traditional craft of portrait painting. This realization took him to New York City to attend the famed Art Students League of NY in search of a teacher. During his time there he met Nelson Shanks, an internationally renowned portrait painter. Unfortunately, Mr, Dunn only lasted seven short months in the Big Apple before being forced to return to his home state of Florida. Fortunately, later that year he was invited by Mr. Shanks to move to Philadelphia to be a part of the new painting school that Shanks was opening.

Studio Incamminati, a school of traditional drawing and painting methods was born in 2002 and Dunn was a part of the exciting beginnings of the then one room school. Since then, Studio Incamminati has grown considerably and is on its way to becoming a Philadelphia institution with its specialized brand of traditional painting methods which are best taught within the master/student environment. Mr. Dunn currently lives and works in Philadelphia and teaches at Studio Incamminati as part of the core faculty.
